How it is calculated

  1. Gross per year = gross per month × 12. Net = gross − employee contributions − income tax. Employer contributions are never taken off.
  2. About 130 countries: contributions use the lines documented in the file (rates, caps, floors and bands; ordinary private-sector employee, nationals in Gulf states). Taxable base = gross − deductible contributions, then the country schedule.
  3. France: old age 6.9% (cap EUR 4,005 a month) + 0.4%, Agirc-Arrco 3.15% / 8.64%, CEG 0.86% / 1.08%, CET 0.14%, CSG and CRDS on 98.25% of gross; non-deductible CSG (2.4%) and CRDS (0.5%) stay in the taxable base.
  4. Tunisia: CNSS 9.68%; base = gross − CNSS − min(10%, TND 2,000 a year); IRPP schedule + 0.5% solidarity contribution.
  5. Morocco: CNSS 4.48% (cap MAD 6,000 a month) + AMO 2.26%; work expenses 35% (gross ≤ MAD 78,000 a year) or 25%, cap 35,000; IR schedule.
  6. Germany: pension 9.3%, unemployment 1.3% (cap EUR 101,400), health 7.3% + 1.45%, care 1.8% (cap EUR 69,750); base = gross − contributions − 1,230; § 32a formula.
  7. United Kingdom: National Insurance 8% from GBP 12,576 to 50,268 then 2%; tax on gross − 12,570 allowance (reduced above 100,000).
  8. United States: Social Security 6.2% (cap USD 184,500) + Medicare 1.45% + 0.9% above 200,000; federal tax after the 16,100 standard deduction. Bermuda: BMD 37.65 a week, no tax.
  9. Countries whose income tax is not documented: you type the tax. Countries with a schedule but no contribution figures (Italy, India, Australia…): you type the contribution rate.
  10. Countries without a schedule: net = gross − typed deductions (rate × gross, or the amount).
  11. Per week = net per year ÷ 52; per hour = net per week ÷ hours.

Example

France, 3,000 gross a month: 7,502.49 contributions and 1,971.56 tax a year, so 26,525.95 net a year (2,210.50 a month).

Good to know

  • Estimate based on the supplied file (edition of 11 October 2026), marked as not production-ready: this is not a payslip.
  • Family situation, tax credits and reliefs, local or state taxes, private health cover, special schemes and real withholding (PAYE, W-4, tax class) are not calculated.
  • Contributions: only the lines the file quantifies are taken off; some may be missing (health in Poland, the UF cap in Chile…). Expatriates in Gulf states, executives and civil servants have different schemes.
  • Germany: 2.9% average health add-on rate, care without the childless surcharge; solidarity surcharge and church tax not included.
  • Countries where you type contributions: country-specific allowances are not applied, so tax may be overstated.
