Car lease calculator (US and French models)
Two distinct models. US: payment = depreciation fee + finance fee from the money factor, plus sales tax. France (LOA/LLD): a level rent on a loan that leaves the residual value at the end.
Result
495.49Monthly payment
- Total cost of the lease
- 20,837.47
- Total cost if you buy the car at the end
- 40,837.47
- A French LLD has no purchase option: only the lease cost counts. The buyout applies to an LOA only.

Result
Monthly payment
- Total cost of the lease
- 20,837.47
- Total cost if you buy the car at the end
- 40,837.47
How it is calculated
- US: cap cost C = price + fees − down payment; payment = ((C − RV) ÷ n + (C + RV) × APR ÷ 2,400) × (1 + tax).
- France: payment = (P − D − RV × (1 + i)^−n) × i ÷ (1 − (1 + i)^−n), with i = rate ÷ 12 and n months.
- Total = down payment + payments (+ fees in France). Buying out adds the residual value.
Example
French model, a 35,000 car, 2,000 down, 20,000 residual, 36 months at 6%, 1,000 fees: 495.49 a month, 20,837.47 in total, 40,837.47 if you buy the car at the end.
Good to know
- Leaves out insurance, maintenance, excess mileage and wear-and-tear charges.
- Dealers often quote a payment without the rate: compare total costs.
