LCM calculator (least common multiple)
Type two or more whole numbers. We find the smallest number that each of them divides. Handy for giving fractions the same denominator.
Result
60LCM
- LCM(4, 6) = 4 × 6 ÷ GCD 2 = 12
- LCM(12, 10) = 12 × 10 ÷ GCD 2 = 60
Inputs
- Your whole numbers
- 4; 6; 10
How it is calculated
We use the GCD: LCM(a, b) = |a × b| ÷ GCD(a, b).
Result
LCM
How it is calculated
- We use the GCD: LCM(a, b) = |a × b| ÷ GCD(a, b).
- For more than two numbers: LCM(a, b, c) = LCM(LCM(a, b), c).
- Minus signs are ignored: the LCM is always positive.
Example
LCM(4, 6) = 4 × 6 ÷ 2 = 12, then LCM(12, 10) = 120 ÷ 2 = 60.
Good to know
- Only whole numbers are accepted (up to 50 numbers, exact).
- The result can get very long: above 3,000 digits the tool stops.
