Fetching the exchange rate…
How it is calculated
- The latest available reference rate comes from the Frankfurter API. Choose a past date to look up a historical rate.
- Converted amount = amount × rate. Any optional fee is then taken off the converted amount.
- Your amount stays in your browser; the API receives only the selected currencies and date.
Example
For 100 EUR to USD, the calculator multiplies 100 by the EUR/USD rate returned for the selected date.
Good to know
- Reference rates update each business day; they are not live trading quotes or your bank’s buy and sell rates.
- Available currency pairs and dates depend on Frankfurter’s data coverage.

When to use it
- Estimate a conversion with a dated reference rate.
- Add a bank fee to see how it changes the amount received.
Frequently asked questions
How often are rates updated?
Frankfurter publishes reference rates updated each business day. They may differ from the rates offered by your bank.
Can I look up a past rate?
Yes. Choose a date in the date field. If no quote exists on that day, the API may return a nearby publication date or no result.
Is my amount sent to Frankfurter?
No. The conversion happens in your browser; only the selected currencies and date are used to request the rate.
